This report describes the results of an experiment aimed at investigating the long-term effects of cutting an the yield, floristic composition and soil nutrient status of chalk grassland. The experiment was carried out at Knocking Hoe, National Nature Reserve, Bedfordshire for a period of 23 years (1965 t~ 1988).
