This was an ongoing condition assessment survey to assess kelp forest communities within the Special Area of Conservation. In particular: 580-Presence and abundance of composite of algal species from kelp zone; 581-Characteristic species – Distomus variolosus population size (abundance on stipes); 582-Characteristic species – Laminaria hyperborea & L. ochroleuca – population size (proportions and density). The survey was carried out under Lot 8 of European Framework Contract using divers (including NE divers) in the summer of 2012.
