The aim of this study was to attempt to understand the ecological factors behind the decline in Viola lutea (Mountain Pansy) at Blakemoorgate and the apparent increase at Rigmoreoak. These are both hill grasslands associated with The Stiperstones NNR. The structure and floristic composition of the vegetation at both sites in were described. The status of Viola lutea was established and recommendations for future management of the sites were made. Simple baseline survey data is provided to support future monitoring of the populations at the sites.
