The Species Status project is a new initiative, providing up-to-date assessments of the threat status of various invertebrate taxa using the internationally accepted guidelines developed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) (see IUCN, 2012a, b 2013). It is the successor to the JNCC’s Species Status Assessment project which ended in 2008. This publication is one in a series of reviews to be produced under the auspices of the new project.
